AI video generator checklist: 9 things to verify

The fastest way to waste money on an AI video generator is to compare feature lists instead of the workflow you need. Use this checklist before you sign up, especially when a tool advertises free credits or a fast first draft.

1. Start with the input

Can you provide a clear prompt, script, reference image, or brief? A good test starts with the input you actually plan to use. Generic demo prompts make weak tools look better than they are.

2. Check the output format

Confirm whether the tool supports the formats you publish: vertical 9:16 Shorts, square social posts, or widescreen video. Check resolution, duration, frame rate, and whether exports carry a watermark.

3. Review the whole workflow
